SPEAKER BIO:

Dave Anderson is the Director of Land Use at the Drenner Group, where he brings many years of engineering and planning experience, strong environmental credentials, and an intense passion for responsible land-use planning to the Firm’s already outstanding practice. 

Mr. Anderson has more than 27 years of experience on civil engineering, development, and planning projects, where he consults with public and private entities on urban development projects, environmental issues, site development permitting, natural resources management, community and regional planning, and code and ordinance development. He has specific insight as a former Commissioner on land-use and entitlement cases in and around Central Texas and serves in leadership roles on urban water and environmental issues.  He interacts daily with Department Directors, City Managers, and numerous elected officials on high profile public projects.

He holds a B.S. in Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines and an M.S. in Water Resources Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin. He is a registered Professional Engineer in the State of Texas and nationally recognized as a Diplomate - Water Resources Engineer by the American Academy of Water Resources Engineers.

Mr. Anderson is a leader in the region as the former Chairman of both the City of Austin Planning Commission and City of Austin Environmental Board. He was a founder of the Central Texas Land/Water Sustainability Forum, has served on the Barton Springs Zone Advisory Committee, and was appointed by U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Director to serve on a Federal Advisory Committee to advise the President and Congress on good environmental practices along the U.S./Mexico border. He was awarded the 2008 Austinite of the Year under 40 in Science and Technology.
